Job Title: Financial Bookkeeper
Reports To: Pastor and Finance Chair
Classification: Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 16 hours/week
Position Overview:
- To provide financial services to Asbury UMC and CMO Ministry, including its members and staff
- Focus on the mission of the United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through Asbury’s vision to “Come Worship, Build Faith, and Love People.”
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
· Work closely with the Financial and Stewardship Committees
· Prepare a yearly budget draft for review and adoption by the Church Council
· Prepare monthly reports for the Finance Chair and individual ministry teams
· Enter weekly contributions to general fund, building fund, special funds, and donor-designated funds
· Keep all financial contribution information confidential
· Enter all invoices submitted for payment, cut checks, submit to treasurer for signature, and prepare for mailing
· Balance checking account and investment accounts and submit reconciliation to Finance Chair
· Process semimonthly payroll on the 15th and 30th of each month, and biweekly payroll every other Thursday
· Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll tax forms and make necessary deposits, and prepare W‐2s at year‐end
Education and Experience
· A minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting from an accredited educational institution would be a plus
· Practical experience in fund‐based accounting and account reconciliation
· A demonstrated Christian faith commitment
· Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, specific fund‐ based accounting software, and on-line banking procedures and software
· Attention to detail and precision in account reconciliation and report generation
· Familiarity with Information Technology, as it relates to Finance, would be a plus
· A commitment to good interpersonal relationships, teamwork and support of church ministries
· A commitment to confidentiality regarding all account records, both of the church and staff, and the members
· Dependable attendance
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
