Description
The Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) 2nd Shift will inspect raw material; plating; work in process including cut lengths, facing, threading, and stamps; finished goods; and purchased material to determine if the product meets the established standards. The inspector must be able to detect defects and determine what needs to be done to correct the defect. S/he also checks the hardness of material including taps, grips, blades, and pipe. If the product does not meet specifications, s/he determines if the material should be scrapped or salvaged.
The inspector is also a backup to the Quality Lead position in the following areas. S/he will on occasion be asked to calibrate various equipment, including thread gages, master gages, taper gages, lead gages, dial calipers, dial indicators, depth micrometers, Jo blocks, and inside/outside diameter masters. This would entail being trained in the Gage Pack system as well as be able to process sending master gages out to be calibrated offsite, transact gages and ensure the gages are also received.
S/he must document all inspections and must maintain accurate records. S/he is responsible for filling out all necessary reports including Customer Complaint or Return (CCR), Corrective Action Report (CAR), Internal Corrective Action Report (ICAR), inspection, daily inspection, plating, raw material, and defective material.

- Ability to read and calibrate various gages
- Ability to understand quality specifications and detect defects in a product
- Ability to make decisions using independent judgment regarding the acceptability of raw material and finished goods
- Must be familiar with all products manufactured, including their end use
