What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supportive Services Manager position at Ascend Housing Allies?
The Supportive Services Manager ("Manager") supervises Ascend Housing's housing retention and supportive services coordinators as well as provides direct and referral assistance to incoming and existing residents in affordable housing developments who have barriers to maintaining stable housing. The Manager will oversee coordinators based throughout a portfolio of specific affordable housing developments, working closely with property management, referral partners, and funding agencies to provide residents with housing stability and retention services, all with the goal of creating stable tenancy and community harmony. The Manager will work with coordinators and residents throughout Vermont as well as spearheading program-building duties for the organization.
Representative Responsibilities:
Supervise a small team of Supportive Services Coordinators
- Provide direct retention and supportive services to tenants across a spectrum of income and need levels on housing retention
- Report to and coordinate with Board of Directors to ensure agency goals
- Spearhead program-building duties such as preparation of grant applications and development of organizational policies and procedures
- Work with property owners and property managers to coordinate services
- Work directly with property management staff to identify unmet resident needs
- Coordinate referrals to other specialized social service organizations when needed
- Address lease violations, non-payment of rent, and other tenancy issues with residents
- Facilitate connections with financial resources to enable housing stability
- Support community-building events and communications to build a sense of community
- Assist in conducting initial and periodic community needs assessments including surveys, listening tours, focus groups, community meetings, and collaboration with other service providers
- Attend periodic coordinated entry and other homelessness prevention meetings
- Record data and track portfolio of cases in database
Job Essential Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Social Work or related field
- Five to ten years of prior experience in supportive services for residents of subsidized housing is preferred
- Experience with direct supervision of case managers is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work effectively with a variety of clients, partners, and professionals
- Comfortable working with clients with a broad range of needs
- Organized, flexible, approachable, strong team player
- Able to manage multiple priorities, interests, and deadlines in a professional manner
- Works well independently
- Accountable to partners and team members
- Able to clearly articulate problems and concerns and present reasonable solutions
