Job Description
The Emergency Medicine Physician will be working at an Indian Health Service hospital in the Navajo Nation.
Responsibilities:
- Staff the ER at a 20-bed hospital serving a population of 20,000 Navajo people.
- Manage emergency room cases, with approximately 14,643 cases annually.
- Provide care to pediatric patients (40%) and adult patients (60%).
- Collaborate with support staff, including Lab, X-Ray, CRNA, AVERA telemedicine, Hospitalist, and EMS Services.
- Ensure timely transfer of critical patients to other facilities.
Requirements:
- ABEM certification or eligibility.
- Licensed in any state with an active, unrestricted license.
- Completion of a US residency program.
- No history of licensure loss or suspension.
- Active ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 7 shifts per month.
Work Environment:
The facility is located in Northwest New Mexico, near the Eastern edge of the Navajo Reservation. It offers easy access to the Southern Rockies and Albuquerque/Santa Fe.
