ASCEND Mental Wellness is seeking a Supportive Awake Overnight Residential Specialist for our Supportive Housing Program. Residential Specialists may work on service plans, provide advocacy for residents, documentation, and perform light maintenance and housekeeping duties.
A sign-on bonus is available for this position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Obtain pertinent information from Residence Counselors when reporting for a shift, and pass on pertinent information to Residence Counselors at the end of shift.
- Assure security of residence throughout shift.
- Completing specified housekeeping tasks
- Complete deep cleaning of the program site as assigned.
- Supervise resident self-administration of medications as indicated by program.
- Be readily available to all residents throughout shift.
- Encourage effective communication, personal and interpersonal awareness and independence among staff and residents.
- Instruct residents in the use of house equipment, safety procedures and routines as necessary.
- Be attentive to the residence and its functioning, make small repairs as needed and inform supervisor of larger maintenance issues.
- Complete appropriate paperwork as necessitated.
- Implement fire drills and report safety concerns to supervisor immediately.*
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and required in-service trainings.
- Provide behavioral intervention when necessary and work with residents to utilize self-control/improved coping skills in de-escalation.
- Represent the agency in a positive manner.
- Maintain a safe environment for all clients and staff.
- Maintain effective communication with other staff members and supervisor.
- Preserve human dignity and confidentiality of all clients and act in the best interest of those served through the Agency’s programs and services.
- Assure quality of work at all times.
- Adhere to all laws and regulations applicable to the Agency’s business.
- Adhere to the Agency’s Corporate Compliance Program and established policies and procedures.
- Positively represent the Agency within the community at all times.
- Have adequate computer skills, or more refined for specific job titles.
- Actively participate in scheduled team/staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor or as indicated by the program’s services.
- Actively participate in Agency sponsored staff development and in-service educational programs as deemed necessary by supervisor, including mandatory trainings assigned per job title.
- Should be compassionate and demonstrate a commitment to helping people with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.
- Must have the ability to work independently, have good problem solving skills and have the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Education/Qualification Requirements:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, with at least two years’ experience working in direct service provision in the human services field.
- Valid NYS driver’s license acceptable to Agency insurance standards.
There is a $2/hour shift differential for 11pm-7am.
