JOB PURPOSE
The VITA Site Coordinator provides coordination, organization, and supervision for all aspects of the VITA site operation. The Site Coordinator is also responsible for gathering, maintain and compiling timely statistical reports as required by the partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership
- Assists tax preparers in making referrals for other community resources
- Ensure that VITA site is open as scheduled and the adequately staffed
E-Filing, Transmission and Quality Review
Acts as the E-file administratorE-files returns within 48 hours of preparationMaintains files for accepted returns and paper returnsReviews tax returns to be e-filed to ensure quality and completenessReviews rejects and informs tax filer within 24 hours. Take necessary action to fix the problem and resubmit the tax return.Administration
Ensure that all volunteers working at the site have completed the required certificationCoordinate with Program Director on all aspects of site management and e-file administration; including scheduling, coverage, a briefing on accepted returns and rejects as necessaryEnsures that portable equipment is under the acre of the Site Coordinator at all timesEnsures that all information is under the care of the Site Coordinator or in locked storage at all timesPerforms all responsibilities that will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the VITA sites.Training
Classroom training or self-study through Link and Learn and a passing score of 80% on the tax law exam. Site Coordinators must be certified at the advanced level. If the scope of returns at the site is of a different level, then the Site Coordinator should certify at that level.A special IRS Site Coordinator training is provided to the coordinators by IRS-SPEC representatives. This course covers all the quality site requirements and other administrative items necessary to effectively operate a VITA Site.Essential Job Functions :

Bachelor degree preferredPrevious tax experience required; 3-5 years with individual income tax returns preferredIRS Advanced Tax CertificationAbility to manage and coordinate a group of volunteers; volunteer recruitment preferredStrong verbal communication skillsGood interpersonal skills and comfort with a wide range of people, including experience with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgroundsComputer skills for maintaining site records and troubleshooting problems with volunteer computers and softwareAbility to take initiative and work with minimal supervisionPreferences :
