POSITION OVERVIEW

Ascend seeks a dynamic and motivated Corporate Sustainability Engineer to join our team. This role will work closely with commercial, product development, technology, site environmental teams, process engineering, and capital engineering to deliver targeted sustainability outcomes. The successful candidate will be able to work on significant projects within our sustainability framework to improve operations' environmental impact, develop sustainable solutions and supply chains, and enhance employee engagement, culture, and inclusion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (commercial, product development, technology, site environmental, process engineering, and capital engineering) to achieve sustainability goals.
  • Lead and participate in projects to reduce operations' environmental impact and develop sustainable solutions and supply chains.
  • Enhance employee engagement, culture, and inclusion through sustainability initiatives.
  • Communicate sustainability progress to external stakeholders via customer surveys and sustainability reporting (e.g., CDP, ACC, UNGC, and Sustainability Report).
  • Work closely with the Procurement team and suppliers to develop and execute Scope 3 reduction roadmaps.
  • Travel to various manufacturing facilities to support sustainability projects and initiatives

REPORTS TO

  • Senior Director of Sustainability.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in sustainability, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills, including business case development, economic analysis, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Resilience, agility, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience applying change management principles to initiatives and programs to ensure successful outcomes and long-term sustainability.
