POSITION OVERVIEW
There is a job opening for a Maintenance Technician III in Nylon Quality Operations at Ascend Performance Materials’ Pensacola site. We are seeking a hands-on, proactive Maintenance Technician to oversee daily maintenance operations, ensure equipment and facility reliability, and coordinate with other site maintenance resources. This is a working role, ideal for someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and organizational skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute work safely, effectively, and with high quality in support of the daily operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment by using an analytical, step by step process, standard maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs are followed and optimized.
- Coordinate with site maintenance resources to minimize downtime.
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and order supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and company maintenance standards.
- Use SAP to enter notification and/or create work orders, enter job history, and reserve materials.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to work closely with key maintenance and operations personnel in providing effective and quality results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to read and understand equipment specifications, technical information, detailed drawings and prints.
- Must be able to produce sketches and provide inspection documentation that is required when evaluating complex equipment.
- Fundamental shop math knowledge and the application of. (Manipulation of fractions, decimals, basic geometry and trigonometry.)
- Skilled in the use of various precision measurement tools. (Vernier & dial calipers, ID & OD micrometers, dial indicators and set up tooling.)
- Ability to understand and follow preventive maintenance plans and strategies.
- Skilled in coupling alignment utilizing laser equipment and/or reverse dial indicator methods.
- Knowledge of various types of and proper application of fasteners, gaskets, tubing, and piping.
- Daily work activities will include shop and/or field troubleshooting, repairs, overhauls of Pilot Plant equipment, and performing preventive maintenance activities on any equipment supporting Technology Projects.
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds for distances of up to ten (10) feet.
- Can climb, bend, stretch, crawl, and position yourself in cramped areas to build and repair equipment.
- Individuals will be expected to perform work at a high level of precision, quality and cost effectiveness while providing significant contributions in a team environment.
- This is a demanding assignment where technical abilities, equipment knowledge and dedication to customer needs are essential.
- Overtime is required as needed in support of Technology operations.
- Actively participate in safety processes and instruct others on the proper and safe use of equipment and tools.
- Execute work safely, effectively, and with high quality in support of the daily operations and maintenance plan.
- Candidates must demonstrate a positive attitude and show personal initiative while striving to satisfy customer needs through high quality maintenance and repair of critical plant equipment.
- Work with operations, maintenance leadership, planner/scheduler to identify and resolve improvement opportunities related to work execution and equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul equipment by using an analytical step-by-step process, standard maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- This role will cover all Maintenance, R&D and Project for the Technology Department.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 5 years proven hands-on Industrial Maintenance experience in the maintenance of critical equipment. (HVAC systems, low voltage electrical systems, compressors, pumps, gearbox drives, blowers, claves and fans.)
- Experienced operating both conventional and complex diagnostic instruments.
- Experience in the safe operation of basic machine shop equipment. (Lathes, mills, drill press, mag-base drill, and various grinding equipment.)
