The School Resource Officer position at Aspen Public Schools, Inc. is multi-faceted and more than just a security enforcement officer that guards the school. Our SROs are an important part of the Aspen Public Schools community. The SRO is a visible, active law enforcement figure on campus who handles any safety issues that may arise. Aspen staff members work as a team and our schools have truly benefited from having SROs on campus. .
Job Duties
- Provides training to all staff members – lockdowns, active shooter, fire drill, earthquake preparedness, etc.
- A classroom resource for instruction in the following areas: law related education, anger diffusion, conflict resolution, anti-bullying, fire drills, lock down, safety programs, alcohol and drug prevention, lockdown, safety, crime prevention, etc.
- Works hand in hand with administration to solve problems in the school community
- Bridges the gap between police and young students to increase positive attitudes towards law enforcement
- Counsels staff in areas which may affect the educational environment in terms of security or law
- Promotes respect for people and property
- Reduces feelings of injustice by helping students formulate an awareness of kindness, fairness, and empathy
Requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to interact well with children and adolescents
- flexibility travel for coverage at three school site
- Certificates:
o Guard Card
o SB1626 School Security Training
o Taser Certification
o Pepper Spray Certification
o CPR/First Aid
o Exposed Firearm Permit

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
