Overview

Ascend seeks a dynamic Director of Literacy who will work closely with our Senior Managing Director of School Design and Network Director of Literacy to establish a strong vision and set of outcomes in our Humanities program. This role sits on our Schools Team, which ensures that we provide students with a high-quality education that unlocks a life of boundless choice. We do this by creating the conditions for excellence across our schools. As a leader of our High School ELA program, the Director of Literacy will own our vision for ELA instruction in 9-12, manage the implementation of that vision, and ensure our leaders are equipped with the skills and knowledge to achieve that vision.

  • culum;Recommend annual refinements to the Literacy program based on network trends, feedback from school-based leadership, and research of best prac
  • tices;In collaboration with other members of the Ascend network team and school-based leadership, participate in ELA content walkthroughs and implementation visits to monitor implementation of the 9-12 and K-12 pr
  • ogram;Collect and analyze videos of exemplary teaching practices around strong implementation of ELA instruction and curate an initial body of exemplar annotated student

pensation Initial salary offers for this position range from $125,000 - $140,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained
