Job Description

Our Client is seeking a senior UX and Product Design Lead to champion user-centered design for its applications and websites. This role is instrumental in improving education technology experiences for parents, teachers, school leaders, and students by ensuring digital tools are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with user needs.

The UX Designer will lead the creation of user experiences that are both functional and delightful, while maintaining alignment with agency design standards and broader industry best practices. This position requires strong independent judgment, initiative, and a demonstrated ability to oversee end-to-end UX/UI design processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including senior leadership, to define, design, and deliver high-impact digital experiences.

Responsibilities

• Oversee UX/UI design initiatives to ensure decisions are grounded in user experience and aligned with agency and industry design standards
• Translate user research into user stories, functional requirements, workflows, wireframes, and prototypes
• Conduct user outreach and usability testing to ensure designs meet end-user needs in partnership with internal and external collaborators
• Work closely with the product team and senior leadership to present design solutions and rationale
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and fellow designers across internal and external teams
• Provide design leadership for large-scale digital product efforts with minimal supervision
  
  

Minimum Requirements:

• 8 years of experience in software product development, digital design, UX/UI, or a related field
• 8 years of experience designing mockups and wireframes aligned with UX best practices
• 8 years of experience with a professional portfolio demonstrating user research, visual design, and usability testing
• 8 years of experience conducting user and usability research
• 5 years of demonstrated strong writing and organizational skills
• 5 years of demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
• 4 years of direct experience leading large-scale UX/UI efforts
• 4 years of experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using Figma or similar design tools
• 3 years of experience ensuring that designs and websites conform to federal accessibility guidelines
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience using Atlassian Jira for tracking design or development work
• 2 years of experience working with or within state or local education agency
