Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Comptroller for a fully on-site, full-time role. The salary range for this position is up to $130,000 a year.
Our client is a real estate developer focusing on affordable housing.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, compliance, and tax data. The candidate will also be the point of contact for banks, auditors, and tax authorities.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with site and corporate staff to ensure regulatory compliance with housing program requirements and layers.
- Prepare projects and review monthly and quarterly status for variances.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements, monthly management reports, and investor reports.
- Prepare monthly bank statements and prepare reconciliations.
- Prepare budgets for all housing entities in Yardi Voyager.
- Participate in weekly senior staff meetings with property managers on budget variances and provide follow-up to staff.
- Assist in generating all year-end building status reports for tax credit properties and ensure that all electronic reporting is completed each year.
- In conjunction with senior staff, prepare annual requests for updates for HUD project based assisted and rent stabilized rent increases.
- Assist in monitoring correct usage of income and rent limits as well as utility allowances.
- Assist in reviewing the annual NYS Rent Registration rent rolls.
- Provide corporate administrative support including timely data entry into compliance reporting systems.
- Assist on project management for any development or rehabilitation work for buildings.
- Streamline, maintain, and improve processes and internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage and maintain day-to-day operational needs, including cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and expense management.
- Manage all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing; including account reconciliations, accrual schedules, and journal entries.
- Prepare journal entries for payroll and provide tax documents to our internal auditors.
- Oversee project to streamline and protect payables through the lender.
Who You Are:
- 3 years of compliance experience in affordable and LIHTC multifamily housing
- 3 years of Yardi Voyager experience
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC and HUD regulations; manual 4350.3
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a business-related degree
