Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Defense Litigation Attorney to join our growing team in Birmingham, Alabama. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation and experience representing clients in insurance defense and/or general liability matters. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload, work directly with clients, and appear in court regularly.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of litigation from case inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents
- Conduct depositions, mediations, and court hearings
- Provide legal analysis, risk assessments, and strategic guidance to clients
- Work closely with partners, paralegals, and support staff to achieve best outcomes
- Ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements
- Maintain accurate records and billing in accordance with firm policy
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active and in good standing with the Alabama State Bar
- 2–5 years of experience in defense litigation or insurance defense preferred
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Courtroom and deposition experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
