Job Summary:
We are seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our preschool team at Ascension Catholic School. Under the supervision of the Lead Preschool Teacher and the Director of Early Childhood Learning, the Assistant Preschool Teacher will assist with day-to-day tasks such as preparing lessons, supporting students during activities, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in early childhood education or a related field and have a passion for working with young children. This is position requires a commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that reflects the values of Catholic education.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Preschool Teacher with preparing and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities
- Support students during lessons, small group activities, and playtime to promote their development
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
Communicate effectively with the Lead Preschool Teacher, other staff members, and families - Use active listening and problem-solving skills to support the needs of students
- Learn technology skills as required by the position
- Perform other job-related tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Lead Preschool Teacher or Principal

Starting Pay: $18 per hour
Starting Pay is determined by the candidate's experience and education level

Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an early childhood education or related degree program
- Experience working with young children, either through volunteer work or paid employment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with families
- Develop and maintain a positive atmosphere with colleagues
- Knowledge of pre-kindergarten educational practices and techniques
- Demonstrate willingness to learn technology skills as required by the position
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children
- Active listening and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, including attendance at required school events (graduation, holiday programs, and other activities as determined by administration)
- Sustained mobility to move throughout classroom and school environments for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks required in an educational setting
- Full sensory capabilities including ability to speak clearly, see, hear, and respond effectively to students, staff, and administrators at all times
- Ability to fulfill all commitments of the educational program throughout the school year
