Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented agressive Construction Estimator to join our team at a leading multifamily general contracting company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating costs for multifamily projects such as apartment complexes, townhomes, and mixed-use developments. As a Pre Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, evaluating bids, and collaborating with project managers, architects, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates for multifamily construction projects.
- Gather and assess quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to determine pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Work closely with project managers and the procurement team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of cost estimates.
- Provide value engineering and cost-saving recommendations to improve project efficiency without compromising quality.
- Maintain and update a database of cost information to ensure the most current pricing is used.
- Assist in reviewing subcontractor proposals, ensuring compliance with project requirements and company standards.
- Monitor market trends and industry changes to adjust estimates for fluctuations in material and labor costs.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to negotiate and finalize project budgets.
- Prepare and submit bids and proposals to clients to secure new projects.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project documentation, including change orders and cost reports.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a construction estimator in the multifamily or commercial construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market conditions.
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred, but not required).
- Minimum 3 years experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate proven win rate of projects from 15 - 45 million.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
