ROLE OVERVIEW
This position collaborates closely with the EMR Manager to provide support to all users both onsite and offsite depending on requests. Primary responsibility will be for the implementation, training and support for the effective use of the electronic health record (EHR) used by DePaul Community Health Centers. EMR Trainer will be tasked with becoming the in house Super user for eClinicalWorks and serve as a primary trainer; resource and troubleshoot issues reported by end users. . The position will also work closely with the Quality Improvement department and Clinical Leads to create and revise workflows that affect various quality initiatives and Uniform Data Systems reporting. The position will collaborate with the EHR vendor as well as reporting systems such as Azara, to problem solve and address/ assist with software issues. Position will support implementing software upgrades, maintenance and security of the application while collaborating with department representatives as needed. EMR Trainer will build templates, forms, scripts and reports to support clinical staff, patient care and ensure effective meaningful use of EMR system. Will be responsible for the overall process and monitoring of user and provider accounts, staff training and orientation, maintenance and on-going operational support in all clinic locations. Will assist in supporting the help desk and technical support staff. The position will be responsible for developing training content and curriculum as well as providing training for all Associates on clinical workflows and updates this position will collaborate closely with Training & Development Manager for continuity of associate onboarding & up-skilling training. They will support the training department by becoming a certified facilitator for targeted training. The position will support application use via frequent attendance at Quality Improvement department meetings, PI meetings as needed, vendor conferences, and provide on-going support and training. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of mentoring and fostering collaboration across interdisciplinary teams. The candidate filling this role will work onsite and travel extensively from site to site to train associates and help them feel comfortable and build their confidence in utilizing the electronic medical record and provide best practice IT approach solutions in collaboration with EMR Managers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and delivers training curriculum and PowerPoint presentation to train associates in clinical application use,
- Conducts technical training for end users of clinical applications,
- Responds to and troubleshoots issues application and end user; determines resolution and best practices, identifies application problems by conferring with users; evaluating procedures and processes,
- Documents resolutions to confirm needs are met; reports issues to other members of the team as needed,
- Works with various departments (BH, Medical) end users to identify, document, communicate and enhance standard processes,
- Work collaboratively with EMR Manager and software vendors to rectify problems that occur during maintenance processes and updates,
- Serve as subject matter expert in the use of the clinical software application and reporting tool (Azara),
- Oversee and perform form and template development and modification to allow usage at department level;
- Responsible for building and optimizing workflows
- Participates in testing for system enhancements and collaboratively conducts EHR optimization efforts; promotes system standardization, utilization, and best practices
- Creates a schedule of rounds in health centers to ensure EHR support needs and issues are proactively identified and addressed,
- Prepares and delivers presentations, demonstrations, train-the-trainer, and special training to include provider meetings
- May perform special assignments and other related tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Associates must remain flexible and available to provide assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations. Associates will be required to travel to accommodate needs of various sites.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years’ experience in the Medical Field
Healthcare equivalent experience in working with the EMR (ECW)
Previous experience managing electronic health record or applications required,
Basic experience using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point require,
Ability to think proactively and function independently,
Excellent problem solving, analytical and time management skills,
Ability to foster collaboration across departments,
Good listening, flexibility and adaptability skills,
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others in the workplace,

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Clinical experience- Medical Assistant/ Nurse or relevant medical office experience
Training Experience with EMR’s (ECW)
