JOB SUMMARY:
Evaluates, treats and prevents disorders of the teeth, gums, and jaws and provides oral health care in the context of each patient’s comprehensive health care needs. The dentist also establishes and provides direct supervision and protocol for the Dental Staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises all dental staff.
Serves as an advisor on committees where input from the dental department is needed or requested.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Espouse Mission Statement.
Provides comprehensive evaluations for all new and recall patients.
Develops treatment plans that meet immediate and long range goals of the patient.
Consults with patients regarding treatment plans in a manner that is clear and sensitive to the patient’s individual needs and level of understanding.
Provides comprehensive dental care to all patients requiring services at DCHC.
Make the appropriate referrals as needed.
Charts all patient visits according to established guidelines in a timely manner.
Provides direct supervision of dental assistants, including, but not limited to, chart review.
Administers and prescribes medications following all state and federal guidelines.
Provides direct supervision of Dental Receptionist in scheduling to ensure efficient patient flow and productivity.
Supervises and supports the work of the Dental Hygienist.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited college or university and legally authorized in the State of Arkansas to practice dentistry.
Must be duly registered, currently licensed and have a valid DEA Certificate in the State of Arkansas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required to frequently sit, use hands, and to talk or hear.
The employee is regularly required to walk, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job to be able to see the intricacies of the dental equipment.
Prolonged sitting or standing may be required.
Those physical movements and the degree of mobility normally associated with the practice of primary care dentistry will be performed on a repetitive basis.
