General Job Description
The Development Associate plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Development Team and participating in all fundraising activities including donor and public relations, database management, direct mail appeals, grant writing, and special events. The Development Team functions as the Ascension DePaul Foundation, which is the philanthropic advocate for DePaul Community Health Centers and Ascension DePaul Services and carries the responsibility of integrating the mission and legacy of the Daughters of Charity in New Orleans, connecting their mission and Catholic identity to the work of the healthcare ministry today.
Duties & Responsibilities
Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files.
Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
Continually update and correct database records.
Coordinate productions and mailing of spring and year-end appeal letters.
Send appropriate documentation to process credits to donors.
Maintain guest lists; prepare materials and other duties for fundraising events.
Work closely with marketing and communications to create materials for distribution.
Assemble materials and take minutes for meetings.
Conduct research and gather subject information for grant submission on prospective corporate, foundation, individuals.
Coordinate with the Development Team and Program Leaders to manage grant funded programs.
Other duties as assigned by the Fund Development Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor degree in a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Database management.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
One - Three years' experience in an administrative / development position, preferably in a health related not-for-profit development office or community healthcare setting.
The Ideal Candidate will be:
A self-starter who is comfortable working independently and can confidently lead special projects as determined by the Development Team once they are adequately oriented to the organization.
Comfortable managing a Grants portfolio, researching opportunities and compiling proposals for funding.
Proactive in setting meetings with individuals and organizations to advocate for the mission of the organization, soliciting gifts and sponsorships from prospective donors.
