II. SUMMARY OF POSITION’S PURPOSE
To assist in the administration and supervision of the instructional program and effectively manage, under the direction of the principal, all administrative-type matters in accordance with the law and Ascension Parish School Board policies and approved procedures.

Qualifying Statement: The duties and responsibilities of the assistant principal may vary from school to school within the Ascension Parish School System due to size of the school, assigned teaching responsibilities and local decision making by the assigned school principal. The assistant principal shall serve as an assistant to the principal and devote time to instructionally-related tasks, resolving discipline problems, preparation of required fiscal and related reports, maintenance-related duties insofar as resolving problems subject to the principal’s authority, and assist with resolution of all problems which are administrative in nature. The assistant principal shall act as principal in the principal’s absence if so designated by the principal.
