Nonetheless, the School Secretary A is responsible for performing these functions as directed by the School Principal/Assistant Principal.

Iii. Minimum Qualifications
- EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION - High School Diploma
- EXPERIENCE - 1-3 years of secretarial experience
- SKILLS - Excellent communication and word processing/spreadsheet skills. Fundamental understanding of administrative techniques.
- Performs a wide variety of clerical duties including, but not limited to, answering the telephone, receiving and directing visitors, typing, copying and faxing documents, and sorting/prioritizing mail.
- Performs a wide variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to, checking students in and out of school, signing in substitute teachers, maintaining absentee logs for students and employees, assisting parents in the preparation of insurance claims, contacting parents when child is not picked up at the student drop off point and, preparing various reports (including the Workers' Compensation Accident Report) for internal and external use.
- Contact parents and coordinates all emergency actions related to student injury.
- Coordinates certain accounting related activities to include accepting checks, making bank deposits (or verifying deposits made by the School Secretary B), reconciling bank statements, paying bills, handling purchase orders, and coordinating all budget reports.
- Maintains sign-in sheets for teachers and bus drivers.
- Maintains the inventory of all textbooks. (NOTE: Librarian may perform this duty in place of the School Secretary A.)
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Assists with the orientation of new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
- Performs other duties as required.
