Director of Accounting – Join a Leading Manufacturing Organization
We are seeking a results-driven and strategic Director of Accounting to lead a highly skilled team of accounting professionals. In this pivotal role, you will oversee key accounting functions, including monthend close, cost accounting, general ledger accounting, inventory, AP/AR, technical accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis. As the Director of Accounting, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of closing the books and consolidating financial reports for multiple manufacturing plants. You will ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial information while serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead efforts in process improvements and automation, driving operational efficiencies and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals across various functions, including cost accounting, general ledger, inventory, AP/AR, technical accounting, and financial reporting.
- Oversee the accurate and timely closing of the books, as well as the consolidation of financial statements for a group of manufacturing plants, ensuring consistency and compliance with applicable standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, overseeing audit processes and maintaining strict adherence to accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Spearhead the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency, streamline operations, and reduce manual processes.
- Take a hands-on approach in managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring the establishment of effective internal controls and driving excellence across accounting operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity managing and developing teams of accounting professionals.
- Extensive experience in consolidating financial reports across multiple plants, with a deep understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing processes.
- Manufacturing accounting experience is required
- Proficiency with ERP systems, including experience in system upgrades or implementations; prior involvement in leading or supporting such initiatives is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership presence, with a self-motivated, results-oriented mindset and a passion for mentoring and developing high-performance teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
