SUMMARY OF POSITION
The individual will provide engineering support, integration support, and technical support for manufacture of automated assembly equipment. The individual will assume a lead role in the after-market production support of our customers automation equipment. It is the responsibility of the successful candidate to debug, troubleshoot, test, and report out on automation systems in our clients’ facility. Work includes supporting and troubleshooting PLC and CNC software, drive configuration, and any other electromechanical equipment. The individual will be an integral part of the team from integration at Ascent facilities through production support at the customer facility, and will be counted on to represent Ascent Aerospace in a professional manner, especially during the critical phases that put the candidate in front of the customer. He /she will report to the Spares & Service Manager, Ascent Aerospace and work out of our office in Macomb Twp., MI.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for automated controls system installation, testing, debug/troubleshooting, commissioning, buy-off, and production support.
Support requests from customers for emergency support both remotely and at the customers facility
Provide written summary reports for root cause of emergency customer service trips.
Operate and maintain systems while promoting good customer relationships
Work with other integration engineers to provide after-market feedback on software and hardware issues to prevent issues from re-occurring
Support continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing or modifying system components.
Responsible for minor utility work such as machining holes, brackets; cutting steel; aligning sensors; attaching Unistrut; etc.).
Diagnoses and repairs gearboxes, bearings, pumps and other mechanical and hydraulic systems
Reviews his/her Program department metrics to ensure accuracy of reporting program performance to management and Customers. Provides recommendations to improve metrics designed to enhance operation efficiencies.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of experience and/or education that provides the required skills and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered.
Typical qualifications would be:
Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment preferred.
5 years experience in PLC logic and programming with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley or Siemens
Creative Problem Solving Skills
Networking Experience
Proficient in Servo or VFD Applications that support Siemens or Allen-Bradley drives
Proficient in programming Fanuc, Kuka, and/or ABB robots a plus
Production Support – Knowledge and experience with production support and working with customers through production down times
Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Project.
Experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic principals/processes
Mechanical aptitude
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3 years experience involving testing for controls and related automation applications
3 years experience with servo controlled motion applications
Experience with Aerospace Automated Equipment integration is preferred
Familiar with manufacturing shop and shop environment
Excellent troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis capabilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with being hands on and a high level of mechanical intuition preferred
