JOB PURPOSE

To perform custodial functions assigned to ensure work areas meet prescribed standards of cleanliness.  This position is based at our Marana location and works Monday through Friday 5:00 am to 1:30 pm.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting and reaching above shoulder level. Requires occasional sitting, climbing, crouching, and kneeling. Requires frequent lifting and carrying weight up to 75 pounds unassisted and pushing or pulling weight up to 75 pounds unassisted. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated: Brooms, mops, powered floor machines, vacuum cleaners, forklifts, and man-lift at heights of up to 35 feet.

Work Location: Hotel, office buildings and indoor work areas throughout the facility.

Potential Hazards: Exposure to materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets; carrying objects up and down stairs.

Protective Equipment Required: Rubber gloves.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, stairways and other work areas.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using brooms, mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using vacuum cleaner.
• Shampoos carpets.
• Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
• Washes walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
• Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Marginal Job Functions:
• Answers inquiries and assists guests.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to Custodian Supervisor.
• Assists other Tenant Services areas when required.
• Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.

SMS REQUIREMENTS

• Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance.
• Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
• Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; excellent communication skills; ability to deal with a wide variety of people; working knowledge of cleaning techniques and standards of cleanliness; ability to follow verbal and written instruction; ability to read, write and understand the English language, ability to operate applicable equipment; ability to work without supervision.

Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: One-year experience in custodial services preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license required.
