Job Title: Nature Study Teacher, Long-Term Substitute
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County Home School Enrichment, Centennial, CO
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Homeschool Dean
Work Days: Part-time on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays
Desired Start Date: January 2025
Salary Range: $4500-$5500

The Ascent Classical Homeschool Enrichment Program is a tuition-free enrichment day offered to home-educated students. We provide homeschooled students with a classical academic enrichment program based in the liberal arts and sciences that supports and enriches their home education and cultivates a community of friendship and learning.
We are looking for someone with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, and a can-do attitude to join our team and to help us build for the future. A successful candidate will have previous classroom experience working with elementary or middle school students. They will demonstrate enthusiasm and knowledge of the classical tradition, as well as expertise in the field of science. They will desire to partner with parents and their home-educated students. Candidates should desire to work in a collaborative environment. They should be professional and well-organized and exhibit intellectual curiosity.

Essential Functions:
- Promote the school's mission and vision
- Engage students with a love of learning nature
- Create an atmosphere of excellence paired with engagement and joyful learning
- Use curriculum map to outline and create weekly lessons
- Teach four nature study classes
- Build an excellent school culture by holding students and staff to high academic and behavioral standards and modeling our school's seven core virtues
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- A state teaching certification is not required
- Previous classroom experience working with elementary or middle school students preferred
- Enthusiasm and knowledge of the classical tradition and expertise in the field of Science
- Desire to partner with parents and their home-educated students
- Desire to work in a collaborative environment
- Professional and well-organized
- Exhibit intellectual curiosity
- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
- Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to complete other related duties as assigned
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- After an offer is accepted, a satisfactory background check as required by state law and Colorado Department of Education
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach
- Must be able to supervise outdoor activities

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group (MEG) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS. Through this partnership, MEG provides employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services, and access to a 401(k) plan. For naming purposes, Minga Education Group is the employer.
