Job Title : Student Services SPED Paraprofessional - Medical
Location : Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC)- Lonetree, CO
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Reports to : Special Education Teacher / Dean of Student Services
Work Hours / Days : School days, professional development days
Position Summary :
The Special Education Paraprofessional will work one-on-one with a student requiring medical and educational support. This role includes assisting special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), providing health care needs, and supporting the student's safety and inclusion in school activities.
Essential Functions :
- Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide health care needs to include toileting, catheterization and G Tube daily.
- Provide escort / transport to and from carline and around campus during the school day.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce lessons and concepts.
- Help manage student behavior by using positive behavior strategies and interventions.
- Monitor and support students in maintaining appropriate behaviors in various settings, including the classroom, cafeteria, and playground.
- Implement behavior management plans under the guidance of special education teachers or specialists.
- Assist in setting up and organizing classroom materials and resources.
- Support students with organizational and study skills, including note-taking, task completion, and time management.
- Supervise students during transitions and activities, ensuring their safety and participation.
- Collect and record data on student performance and behavior as directed by the special education teacher.
- Support students in developing social skills and peer relationships.
- Promote inclusion by facilitating student participation in general education classrooms and school activities.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment for students.
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, following school protocols and providing necessary support.
