Reports to : Dean of Grammar School
Work Hours / Days : Faculty calendar, M-F, School days, and professional development days
Salary Range : $45,000 to $55,000 depending on degrees and years of experience

Our teachers model good character and teach phonics-based literacy, Singapore math, and the great ideas and works of history, science, and literature. We seek teachers with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, a warm rapport with students, clear communication with parents, and a can-do attitude to join our team. The ideal candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to helping students grow in wisdom and virtue.
Essential Functions :
- Prepare lesson plans and teach specific curriculum in Singapore Math, Well Ordered Language, and writing through the Institute for Excellence in Writing, as well as literature, poetry, history, and science aligning Hillsdale College's K12 Program Guide for each school year
- Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods
- Foster professional relationships with faculty and staff,
- Seek collaboration with parents and mentor students in the pursuit of their own flourishing
- Model moral character in line with the school's core virtues and the pursuit of Good, True, and Beautiful
- Assign, collect, grade, and return graded work in a timely manner
- Monitor student progress and self-evaluate how to support effective learning
- Identify struggling or advanced students to provide support or academic extensions
- Collaborate with Students Services to meet requirements of SPED plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others
- Communicate, usually weekly, with parents
- Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule
- Maintain confidentiality in student records
- Maintains a professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.
- Performs other duties as directed
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 36 credits in Early Childhood Ed (Colorado Teaching license is NOT required)
- Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of ACACS
- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
- Faculty will be required to participate in a study of Tried and True by Daniel Copeland and The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, superior organization, and computer skills
- Develop positive and professional relationships with team members
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to support school leadership team as needed
- Willingness to perform other duties as requested
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
- Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
