Job Title: Assistant Athletic Director - Middle School Athletics

Report to: Athletic Director
Schedule: Full-time, M-F, School days, PD days, after school athletic events
Start Date: August 1, 2025
Position Summary: The Assistant Athletic Director assists with coordinating middle school athletics, supporting coaches, student-athletes, and athletic operations. This role requires involvement in budgeting, event planning, and enforcing policies, while promoting the school's mission. The ideal candidate will support athletic events, including in the evenings, and build strong relationships within the school community. This person must be committed to classical education and cultivating virtue, discipline and sportsmanship.
Essential Functions
Middle School
- Oversee middle school athletics, ensuring a high-quality program aligned with school values under the guidance of the Athletic Director, help .
- Support coaches and student-athletes in day-to-day needs.
Administrative & Operational
- Manage middle school athletics budget, track expenses, & support planning processes
- Coordinate athletic facility scheduling and maintenance requests
- Assist with game-day setup, scheduling, and event operations
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to school policies, league regulations, and guidelines (e.g., Title IX)
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for eligibility, participation, inventory, and injuries
- Communication: Serve as a point of contact for middle school athletics-communicate with coaches, parents, students, and staff
- Fundraising: Assist with planning and executing athletics fundraising
- Travel Coordination: Assist with team travel arrangements
- Community Engagement: Help create and distribute materials promoting events to students, families, and the community
- Reporting: Report injuries/incidents per school protocols
Coaching and Student-Athlete Support
- Support coach recruitment, onboarding, logistics, and scheduling
- Monitor student-athlete eligibility, behavior, and well-being
- Enforce the athletic code of conduct and assist with player evaluations and placement
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach two middle school Physical Education classes daily (6th grade and 7th/8th grade), focusing on physical fitness, character, and sportsmanship
Additional Responsibilities
- Scheduling: Help schedule games, practices, and facility use
- Staff Supervision: Supervise support staff in middle school athletics as needed.
- Game Day Presence: Attend home games and postseason away events, with evening availability.
- Media and Communications: Assist with internal and external communications for athletics.
- Professional Development: Participate in training and professional learning opportunities
Travel Requirements
- Attend home competitions and postseason away games
- Travel to athletic-related meetings as needed
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; sports management, or related field preferred
- 3 years of experience in athletics leadership, coaching, or event coordination, preferably in a school setting
- Experience teaching PE at the middle or high school level
- Knowledge of youth athletics, league operations, scheduling, and team management
- Strong organizational , verbal & written communication skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Commitment to classical education and character development, virtue, and discipline through athletics
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain by start date)
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations
