Ascent is seeking a full-time, experienced People Resources Specialist to join our People Resources team in our Sacramento or Berkeley office. This role offers the opportunity to support and implement key HR initiatives, including payroll, leave administration, compliance, safety, and other people programs. The ideal candidate has 3 years of HR experience and enjoys working both independently and collaboratively to drive positive workplace experiences.
In a typical week in this position, you might:
- SUPPORT day-to-day HR-related tasks and collaborate with People Resources leaders and team members to offer coaching, guidance, and advice on people matters and policies.
- PARTICIPATE in the development and administration of employee programs and policies that align with our culture and evolving employee needs and preferences, including programs related to payroll, compliance, leaves of absence, and safety, as well as other people resources programs as determined.
- SUPPORT the creation and implementation of internal programs, events, and initiatives.
- PARTNER with our People Resources team and leaders to enrich our employee support programs and solutions for employees and managers.
- ESTABLISH working relationships with all teams and Ascent staff and promote the Core Values of the organization.
- ASSIST with other HR special projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. A./B. S.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education, and experience.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification desired.
- Three or more years of experience in assistance with HR-related projects/management and implementation.
- Strong written, organization, and analytical skills, desired
- Forward-thinking, detailed-oriented, personable
- Ability to work well under pressure, with proven time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and organize complex information.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, teams, and leaders
- Knowledge of HRIS systems. Experience using Paylocity is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
