This EMT-B is responsible for providing basic life support (BLS) scopes of practice. Additionally, during advanced life support (ALS) and critical care transports (CCT). The EMT-B is also responsible for assisting Ascent Medical Transport (AMT) teams with care during these care settings. All care for patients will be done in an efficient, knowledgeable and cost-effective manner, which is accurately documented and properly coordinated with other health care personnel.
Job Description : The EMT-B will :
- Perform primary assessments on each patient attended to, demonstrate the ability to recognize impaired airway, breathing, circulation, and take appropriate action to resolve problems
- Perform secondary assessments head to toe and be able to accurately evaluate injuries in a timely manner and respond appropriately
- Understand the principles of immobilization and use equipment properly
- Performs essential job responsibilities in a moving ground ambulance as well as the potential to do so in an outdoor environment (inclement weather, extremes of temperature, etc.)
- Exposure to noise, vibration of ground ambulance
- Exposure to patients with known or unknown infectious disease in an enclosed space
- Operate the transport equipment (within scope of practice) effectively
- Check functioning and safety of all equipment
- Uses supplies efficiently and replaces supplies when needed and / or after each call
- Cleans front and back of ambulance after each call and / or before ending shift
- Completes patient care reports correctly and in a timely manner as educated and directed according to AMT standard practice
- Is respectful towards all they encounter and leads with honesty and integrity
Minimum Qualifications :
Current EMT-B certificate in the State of Idaho or definitive plan to complete prior to hire - and - Current BLS certification - Health Care Provider - and - Current valid / unrestricted driver's license in state of residence
Physical Requirements :
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
Need to walk and assist with transporting / ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing / pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
