The Role
The Mortgage Processing and Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end mortgage processing and closing functions to ensure loans are processed and closed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory and investor guidelines. This leadership role requires strong organizational, compliance, and interpersonal skills to manage a high-performing team and deliver exceptional borrower experiences.
The Work
- Lead and manage the mortgage processing and closing teams, ensuring timely and accurate execution of loan files from application through funding.
- Develop and implement workflows, procedures, and performance standards to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Monitor pipeline activity to ensure loans progress in accordance with deadlines and closing schedules.
- Collaborate with loan officers, underwriters, title companies, attorneys, and other parties to resolve issues and ensure a smooth closing process.
- Maintain knowledge of industry regulations (FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC, TRID, RESPA, etc.) and ensure compliance across processing and closing activities.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to team members to support performance and career development.
- Generate reports on pipeline status, processing times, and performance metrics for senior leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships for closing, title, and document services.
- Participate in audits and regulatory reviews, providing necessary documentation and responses.
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in mortgage loan processing and closing, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
- Deep knowledge of residential and business purpose mortgage guidelines.
- Strong understanding compliance requirements.
- Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with mortgage LOS platforms and experience aiding in the design of mortgage origination software.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong reporting and data analysis and presentation skills.
The Pay
Salary range is $100,000-$110,000 per year with a discretionary bonus of 15% per year.
The Work Environment
- This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office, Monday - Thursday (Fridays are work-from-home).
- Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime.
- Some nights and weekends required.
