What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Designer position at Ascential Technologies?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Design and Development : Design and development of mechanical systems and components for automation manufacturing equipment.
- Conceptualization : Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to conceptualize and define design requirements based on project specifications and manufacturing goals.
- Prototype and Testing : Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software and develop and validate design concepts and to perform functional testing.
- Design Optimization : Continuously evaluate and optimize mechanical designs to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness, while adhering to industry standards and regulations
- Documentation and Reporting : Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOM), and design change records.
- Collaboration : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of mechanical designs with electrical, controls and software components.
- Vendor Management : Liaise with external vendors and suppliers to source components, review quotations, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality parts for prototype construction and manufacturing
- Continuous improvement : Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices in automation manufacturing and mechanical design. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction and innovation in mechanical design methodologies
