Position Summary
This position is responsible for improving physician productivity, patient outcomes, and satisfaction by effectively and efficiently assisting patients through the evaluation and treatment process. Responsibilities include performing patient evaluations, providing instructions on exercise prescriptions, wellness protection, and general patient care education by utilizing knowledge of a broad range of medical problems.
Essential Functions
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Take patient history, perform initial evaluations, and document findings.
- Assist with patient setup and education during in-office procedures.
- Design and educate patients on home exercise protocols as prescribed by the physician.
- Triage patient messages, phone calls, and questions effectively.
- Counsel patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes.
- Fit braces, crutches, and other durable medical equipment (both off-the-shelf and custom).
- Sterilize equipment before and after treatment, and properly dispose of used medical items.
- Update patient charts with relevant information on their health conditions.
- Communicate with patients about pre-operative and post-operative recovery, and notify the physician of concerns regarding treatment progress.
- Prepare necessary documentation as requested by the physician before seeing patients (e.g., clinic prep, x-ray, injection procedures, minor surgical procedures).
- Safely apply and remove casts and splints as directed by a physician.
- Assist with dressing changes and suture removal.
- Proficiently manage and fit DME equipment, ensuring proper documentation for possible reimbursement.
- Participate in Athletic Training Outreach programs as needed.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and professional societies.
- Foster a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams through communication and problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Participate in department meetings as required.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.
- Comply with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist policies, and employee guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess an active state license as a Licensed Athletic Trainer in both Kansas and Missouri.
- Must hold a current and active NATA Certificate.
- Must have a current CPR or BLS certification.
- Experience: Must have at least 2 years of substantially similar work experience.
- Other: A clean background check is required.
