What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skills Trainer position at Ascentria Community Services Inc?
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 supports with significant consideration to sensory sensitivities
- Facilitate productive play activities to teach and reinforce skills development
- Teaching and supporting individuals both in the home and in the community with ADLs and IADLs (examples include but are not limited to: transportation, using technology, money management, hygiene tasks, and laundry)
- Serve as an advocate for individuals and families at various community levels
- Support individuals and families to participate in social and recreational activities that encourage networking, formation of natural supports and peer support.
- Coordinate and work collaboratively with other service providers and family as needed to implement treatment planning objectives
- Job must be conducted at all times in a way that respects the rights, privacy and the dignity of the client and adheres to all contractual regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A high School Diploma or HiSet is required
- At least 1 year experience in ABA field strongly preferred
- BCBA or ABA certification highly preferred
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with concepts related to neurodiversity strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with community based human service professionals and staff.
- Flexibility to meet schedule needs of individuals and families
- Valid Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance is required to transport clients throughout the community.
