JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Claims Support Specialist to join our Claims Department. The Claims Support Specialist focuses on assisting the US Workers’ Compensation Claims Team in administrative processing of claims, from claims intake to closure. The ideal candidate should be a creative problem-solver with a skill for navigating systems and an eye for detail and accuracy, should be able to take initiative with respect to process improvements, and be able to work limited supervision once trained. This position is on-site in the MS office location.

Responsibilities

  • Contact policyholders or agents for additional information needed to triage a new claim as either a Notice Only, Medical Only, or Lost Time claim
  • Accurately enter data to set up new claims in the claims administration system to ensure compliance with claim reporting to the states
  • Answer service requests from policyholders, medical providers, and injured workers in a professional and courteous manner, always providing a high level of customer service
  • Maintain code and field mapping tables and form letter automation in the claims administration system
  • Assist with company projects as assigned and continue professional growth and development through the attendance and participation in insurance related events, seminars, classes, and conferences
  • Match incoming mail to the appropriate claim and label indexing values to each document
  • Perform tasks for adjusters to include collecting work status reports from physicians, mailing documents, and calling policyholders for missing mandatory information to ensure reporting compliance.

Requirements

  • HS degree required, bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience, including some exposure to the insurance claims process, ideally in P&C insurance.
  • The ideal candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to effectively prioritize projects and assignments for multiple internal clients.
  • Ascot is looking to hire a self-starter who is capable of working independently in a team-oriented and collaborative environment. Must have the initiative and desire to contribute to multiple projects, some of which may fall outside the scope of a similar role at a larger company.
  • Strong computer and typing skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Focused eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Desire to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
