Job Summary

Ascot Group, a leading commercial insurance company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our AI function. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced data analysis, machine learning techniques and LLM’s to drive innovation, efficiency, growth and enhance decision-making processes within the organization. This role may be in the office with a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis and Modeling: Conduct complex data analysis, build predictive models, and identify trends to improve underwriting processes and risk assessment.
  • Machine Learning: Develop and deploy machine learning algorithms and models to automate processes, enhance employee and client experience, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • LLM Integration: Harness the power of large language models to automate document intake, customer and employee interactions, streamline claims processes, submission and claims triage and enhance risk evaluations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including actuarial, underwriting, claims, risk management and IT, to integrate AI solutions into existing systems.
  • Research and Development: Stay up to date with the latest AI and data science advancements and apply them to commercial insurance applications. Develop a deep acumen of insurance processes and challenges.
  • Data Management: Ensure data quality, integrity, and security while managing large datasets.
  • Communication: Create and present detailed ideas, insights and visualizations to senior management and stakeholders to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Assist with additional ad hoc projects as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree; preferred Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5 plus years of experience in data science, with a focus on AI and machine learning and LLM integration.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL. Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn, Azure stack/AI foundry and Databricks experience is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Industry Experience: Experience within the financial services industry is desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Collaborative and able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be positive, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The salary range for this position in NY metro is $165,000-$185,000
