Job Summary
Ascot’s Professional Liability business unit is seeking a motivated Underwriting Assistant (UA) to work in growing a diverse suite of E&O products. The UA will be responsible for supporting and managing workflows between Underwriting and Operations. The successful candidate will handle the life cycle of an account, including new business, renewals, and servicing of business. This role may be in the office and work on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
- Support all steps of the underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function.
- Partner with Underwriters, Brokers and Reinsurers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities.
- Partner with Underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc. and effectively complete coding/issuance.
- Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, binding all the way through to policy issuance and endorsements within assigned authority.
- Preparation of renewals, including reviewing prior year account history and analysis of submission material received for the upcoming policy year.
- Collaborate with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met.
- Ensure all parts of the Underwriting workflow are completed both accurately and on time.
- Assist underwriters processing new business submissions and rating sheets.
- Assist with other projects supporting the Underwriting team as required.
- High School diploma, some college is preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a related field, P&C industry experience, experience with financial lines preferred.
- Must be positive, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly customer-centric both internally and externally.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
