Director of Construction

We are currently sourcing for an experienced Construction Director. Must have experience in the commercial sector. We are seeking an individual who can supervise and lead a team, and who can effectively manage, oversee, and ensure the success of commercial construction projects while working with all departments of the company. Travel to different project locations within the Jacksonville MSA will be required.

The Construction Director will supervise, plan and coordinate all aspects of the construction process, including hiring general contractors and working with engineers, architects and vendors.

The Construction Director’s responsibilities include ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, planning and designing construction projects, and overseeing the building process.

Our ideal candidate has a solid background in the field, excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software, project management skills and a strong understanding of construction procedures, material, and project management principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the building process, working closely with engineers and architects to develop plans, establish timelines, and determine labor and material costs.
• Planning, coordinating, and overseeing the execution of commercial construction projects.
• Developing and reviewing project blueprints and designs with architects and engineers.
• Preparing and negotiating the terms of all project agreements and ensuring all parties understand the scope and limitations of the contract.
• Identifying and selecting contractors and coordinating their activities.
• Monitoring and controlling costs to ensure the project is completed within budget.
• Ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are obtained and all regulations are followed.
• Conducting regular on-site inspections to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Resolving any problems, disputes, or issues that may arise during the construction process.
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a commercial Construction Manager.
• Advanced knowledge of construction project management processes means and methods.
• Understanding all facets of the construction process.
• Competent in conflict and crisis management.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field or proven experience.
