Summary:
This position assists in sales and use tax compliance, business system tax attributes, audits, tax exemptions, and other miscellaneous taxes. This position requires the use of independent thinking in performing responsibilities and requires strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks. This position is exposed to confidential information requiring the use of appropriate judgment.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Assist in the timely and accurate filing of sales and use tax returns
- Business systems sales and use tax attribute maintenance;
- Tax-related end-of-month financial journal entries;
- Sales tax exemption certificates management;
- Assist in sales and use tax audits;
- Sales and Use tax reconciliation;
- Internal sales and use tax review;
- Expenditure taxability analysis;
- Miscellaneous gross receipts, production, and severance tax returns:
- Unclaimed property compliance.
- Performs special projects as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum 4 Year - Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in progressive private, or public accounting with significant exposure to sales/use taxes
- Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
- Knowledge of accounting and corporate sales/use taxes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work from general policies and departmental objectives
- Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organization policy or departmental objective is in question.
