Childcare Director - Job Summary
The Board of Ashe Developmental Day School is actively seeking a dedicated, creative, and knowledgeable Childcare Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of our center. The Childcare Director will be responsible for the overall management of the center, including staff, compliance, and the safety and well-being of the children. This individual must have excellent organizational skills, be able to assist the board of directors in developing and managing budgets, have the drive to continuously grow and improve the center, and have a strong commitment to providing quality care for children.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the board of directors in developing, implementing, and reviewing policies and procedures for the center
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Management of staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Be an encourager of staff and their pursuit of higher education
- Ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility
- Assist the board of directors in the development and management of the center’s budget
- Be socially perceptive- able to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse population of families and staff
- Be a critical thinker able to focus on the details while still seeing the big picture.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessments, and training requirements
- Be dependable, responsible, ethical
- Possess the ability to maintain composure and keep emotions in check during stressful situations
- Knowledge of business and management principles
- Flexible and adaptable, willing to fill in where situations require
- Prepare reports and other documentation as needed
Experience and Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited institution;
- Have two years of experience as a childcare center director or assistant director
- Level III North Carolina Administrative Credential by DCDEE; and
- One of the following: NCECC Credential; Lead Teacher qualification and BSAC; Administrator qualification and BSAC; Completed and hold a currently active Level I or higher certification on the School Age Professional (SA) scale issued by the NC Institute for Child Development Professionals
