Hours: 1st shift, days may vary | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience
PRN, first shift position in Imaging.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiographer) will use ultrasound equipment that produces two-dimensional high frequency sound waves to create diagnostic images of the heart for use in cardiac diagnosis and treatment. The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiographer) will also work with physicians/cardiologists to ensure accurate and timely interpretation of the imaging results.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Requirements:
- Must be a graduate of an approved course in Cardiac Sonography
- Successful completion of the Adult Cardiography registry exam with ARDMS preferred.
Experience:
- Clinical experience sufficient to be eligible for registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
License/Certifications:
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is preferred.
- CPR certification
- Echo Certification
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Explains procedures to patients and assists patients in the proper positioning for the test.
- Selects transducer and makes equipment adjustments according to the nature of test, depth of field, and other test specifications.
- Performs the echocardiogram according to policy and procedures.
- Enters test data and patient information into the computer to become part of the test record.
- Prepares preliminary report.
- Ensures images and report are available for interpretation.
- Ensures a report is generated and available to ordering physician.
- Checks equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper operation.
- Will be required to perform bone dexa exams.
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
