JOB SUMMARY:
To operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs of the Body for diagnostic purposes as directed by radiologists.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program that is AMA approved and meets the requirements of the American registry of Radiologic Technologist or its equivalent.
Experience: At least one year of radiology experience is preferred, but a less experienced applicant would be considered.
License/Certifications:
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must be a graduate.
- CPR certification.
Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, general business hours. On-call, evening, weekend, and holiday work required as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Properly identifies all patients prior to exam. Serves all patients that are referred to the department for radiologic examination.
- Positions patient on examination table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
- Properly acquires images that comply with departmental standards of high quality.
- Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Moves x ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocol.
- Operate mobile x ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patients' bedside.
- Knowledge of improvement process plan.
- Must be reliable for "on call" status.
- Complies and knows charging process and makes appropriate changes when necessary.
- Documents and submits all pertinent clinical information to the Radiologist prior to the patient leaving the department.
- Follows all Department Routines for exams and documents reasons for not following the routine views.
- Scans and documents all medications and allergies in Meditech as required by policy.
- Knowledge of all special procedures in area.
- Exhibits a pleasant disposition and maintains a professional attitude in the workplace.
- Show a willingness to cross train and strives to continually improve or develop them.
- Knowledge of PACS system and how to operate make appropriate changes prior to sending to the Radiologist, and make CDs.
- Actively looks for other duties to perform when patient volumes are down.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
