Job Title: District Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator

General Statement of Job:
The Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator plays a vital role in the operation of the SIS for the school district. This position manages the SIS, ensuring data integrity, providing support to school-level data managers, and coordinating with the State Reporting Service for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). In addition, the SIS Coordinator is responsible for the appropriate setup and configuration of the SIS, ensuring it meets the needs of the school district, as well as providing data from the SIS to various stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
SIS Management:
Maintain the SIS and ensure data integrity.
Create and maintain user accounts within the Student Information System for the LEA.
Manage and update school calendars, incorporating weather closures, changes to marking periods, and semester adjustments.
Support attendance tracking processes.
Serve as the primary point of contact between the school district and the NCDPI helpdesk.
Reconcile and verify all state reports before submission to NCDPI.
Maintain the course catalog database at the school district level.
Oversee and perform advanced scheduling for the school district.
Complete GPA and Rank calculations at the school district level.
Complete Honor Roll setup and calculations at the school district level and at each school.
Create and maintain the school calendar at each school.
Manage the importing of student data into various third-party systems.
Permanently store grades in the SIS for each school for every marking period.
Review special programs at each school and maintain special program rosters.
Review and audit behavior incidents entered into the SIS.
Provide data exports from the SIS to support various departments and programs.
School-Level Data Manager Support:
Provide training to all school-level data managers on SIS procedures.
Communicate changes in school district and school business processes, policies, roles, and responsibilities related to student data.
Provide support to end users.
Compliance and Security:
Adhere to and enforce FERPA guidelines regarding student data.
Support and enforce the school district Security Policy.
Maintain the Acceptable Use Agreement for the SIS and ensure all end users sign it.
Adhere to state and local school board policies regarding student information.
Reports to: Director of Instructional Technology
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience working with student data and information systems.
Knowledge of state and federal student data reporting requirements.
Excellent communication, training, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) reporting systems.
Experience with PowerSchool and other Student Information Systems.
Experience working in a K-12 school district environment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use a computer and other office equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
