A R is an award winning interior design firm located in Asheville, NC. Our focus is on high end residential design, including full scope renovations/remodels and multi million dollar new construction homes. We are looking for an experienced Archicad specialist to join our team, and manage all drawings and 3D modeling for our office. Whether your background is in architecture, drafting or interior design, it’s imperative that you have experience in producing detailed architectural drawings for construction projects.
This position will entail design, document preparation, management of drawing revisions, managing/updating the A R Archicad template, and ensuring all drawings issued by A R adhere to company standards. Candidates must be quick learners and able to switch gears and handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in Archicad is preferred, as well as experience working in a teamwork application, and with 3D modeling. Candidates must be detail oriented, and able to work both independently, as well as part of a team.
This position will work under the direction of the Lead Designer, and collaboratively with input from our Project Manager/Designers to fully develop construction drawing sets for all A R projects. This position requires 5 years of on the job experience and is not a good fit for recent graduates.
Responsibilities will include:
- Implementing A R drafting standards for all projects, and further developing standards to apply to all drawing sets moving forward
- Managing drafting and 3D modeling responsibilities for the firm’s projects which typically number 8-12 at any given time
- Maintaining digital and printed sets of drawings, including revisions
- Working on Teamwork files with architectural firms with whom we collaborate
- Provide additional Archicad training as needed to other team members
- Site visits as needed w/ Design Team
- On-site field measurements for renovation projects
- Measure prepare “as built” house plans/models for existing homes
- Prepare renovation plans including floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, lighting/electrical plans, etc.
- Cabinetry design, including custom built-ins ordered through our in-house cabinet line
- Work in shared files with architectural offices to add layers of detail to their interiors sets of drawings
- Work with Design team to further develop initial design concepts into fully detailed drawings and renderings
- Utilize your own skills and experience to create additional design options for the team's consideration, once they have provided initial direction on the interiors concept for each project

Qualifications and skills:
- BA/BS in Interior Design (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years experience, with related high end residential work
- Proficiency in drafting, hand-sketching, 3D modeling, Google Docs
- Experience in Archicad is preferred
- Experience in cabinet design preferred
- Strong design and graphic abilities
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a collaborative/team environment
- Candidate should be passionate about design and detail oriented. Experience in high end residential design is necessary
- The ideal candidate should have a good balance between technical knowledge, design talent, and presentation skills
- Candidate should be self motivated and nimble, as the job will require the ability to balance multiple projects at one time
