The Ashland County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Juvenile Prevention Officer to join our team full-time. This pivotal role focuses on supporting at-risk youth and their families to prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Screening & Assessment: Work closely with the Juvenile Division Assistant Prosecutor and Investigator to review and evaluate cases of juveniles referred by law enforcement for delinquent or unruly acts, under the supervision of the Prosecuting Attorney.
- Service Coordination: Partner with local service providers, schools, and community organizations to develop and implement intervention plans tailored to each child and family’s needs.
- Family Support: Work directly with families to address the underlying causes of law enforcement contact, promoting healthier environments for the child’s growth and development.
- Case Management: Monitor the progress and outcomes of intervention plans, ensuring resources are effectively utilized and goals are met.
- Collaboration: Maintain open communication with law enforcement, schools, and community organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to juvenile prevention.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, education, or a related field.
- Experience in case management, social services, or youth intervention programs preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- CANS Assessment Certification: Preferred candidates will be qualified to administer CANS assessments (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) or be eligible to become qualified.
- Knowledge of local resources and services available for youth and families is a plus.
- Passion for working with at-risk youth and commitment to fostering positive change.
