6th Grade ELA Teacher – Ashland Middle School
Ashland Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate 6th-grade ELA Teacher to support students in developing their writing skills to join our team in the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will provide engaging and rigorous instruction aligned with Massachusetts ELA standards, fostering a love for writing and literacy among students. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to implement effective instructional strategies, assess student progress, and create a positive learning environment that supports all learners.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct and differentiated writing instruction to 6th-grade students, ensuring alignment with Massachusetts ELA standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the developmental levels of students and implements engaging lessons that enable all students to progress toward meeting intended outcomes.
- Designs and delivers writing-focused instruction that emphasizes critical thinking, structure, and creativity, while incorporating grammar, vocabulary, and revision techniques.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, including modeling, mentor texts, and writer’s workshops, to support student growth in writing.
- Regularly assesses student writing through formative and summative assessments, providing targeted feedback and opportunities for revision and improvement.
- Analyzes student performance data to adjust instructional practices and implement appropriate interventions or extensions.
- Collaborates with colleagues, including reading specialists, special educators, ELE educators, to support diverse learners and implement effective literacy strategies.
- Engages students in discussions about their writing, helping them develop confidence, voice, and clarity in their written expression.
- Establishes a classroom environment that fosters student engagement, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
- Communicates regularly with families regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Participates in professional development opportunities and applies best practices in literacy instruction.
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning community.

Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Licensure covering Middle School ELA
