Job Description
The Assistant Director of Academic Services works collaboratively with the Director of Academic Services to provide academic leadership, faculty support, communication, and training to those teaching face-to-face and online in correctional education. This position works to support an environment conducive to effective teaching and scholarly achievement. This position cultivates meaningful relationships with CE faculty and staff to provide exceptional customer service.
- Provides academic and technical support for CE faculty through weekly communications, semester overviews and in-semester training sessions.
- Under the authority of the Director of Academic Services, supports daily operations for the academic services by troubleshooting faculty and curriculum issues encountered in correctional education.
- Assists in the administration of the Subject Matter Expert (SME) initiative.
- Works closely with the Director of Academic Services and Business Manager to supervise the CE faculty contract process each semester.
- Coordinates the administration of the CE faculty course evaluations process to ensure compliance and data collection.
- Maintains and provides yearly updates to the CE Faculty Handbook.
- Assists the CE Instructional Designer in maintaining CE resources in the Center for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (CITE) organization to maximize faculty potential for high-impact teaching and learning.
- Maintains face-to-face course rotation for Ohio to ensure proper course offerings and advisors can ensure proper advising of students and development of student academic plans.
- Gathers data regarding the effectiveness of programs implemented through Academic Services.
- Works with Director of Academic Services to on-board new CE adjuncts.
- Completes other tasks as requested by the Director of Academic Services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience working with students in a higher education environment through different Learning Management Systems
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of academic administration and program management
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently
- Commitment to confidentiality
- The ability to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends, as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience teaching students at the higher education level
- Prior experience working in a correctional environment
