Job Description
The Counselor is a full-time, 9-month (second week of August through one week after spring graduation) professional position reporting to the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Psychological Counseling and Health Services.
- Provide personal counseling services to promote optimum mental health and college success.
- Develop services and programming appropriate to a college population.
- Services may include but are not limited to: clinical counseling, testing, guidance, mentoring, and coaching.
- Create, manage, and supervise the development of clinical treatment plans.
- Collect and analyze client data related to service delivery and outcome.
- Maintain development and confidentiality of records.
- Assist clients with the development of personal skills and strategies for dealing with life concerns.
- Assess suicidal ideation and attempts.
- Coordinate wrap-around treatment plans.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree is required in Counseling (CACREP)
- Licensure or license eligible and registered with the State of Ohio is required
- Expertise and interest in testing, use of data, new student adjustment, family and relationship problems, stress reduction, and psychological evaluation are required
- Knowledge of professional standards and ethical guidelines is required
- Maintain license and CEU requirements as deemed by the state of Ohio Licensure Board
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years professional and one year experience in a college or university setting
- Flexibility in clinical service delivery; for example, internet, Chat, Teams, Skype, etc.
- Eclectic therapeutic skills must include but are not limited to CBT, person-centered, humanistic
- Ability to navigate the public mental health system including working with the county and state mental health boards
- Knowledge of National and State Ethical Standards
- Expertise and understanding of standard academic testing; for example, ACT or SAT
- Ability to institute risk, crisis, and emergency protocols
- Competent to work with a diverse clinical population
Physical Demands
- Evening/weekend hours when needed (i.e. emergencies)
