Major Responsibilities
- Plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School division and throughout the school as a whole, sharing responsibilities for curriculum development and divisional priorities.
- Design and implement inquiry-based project learning experiences, guided by student interests.
- Implement classroom instruction that includes whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
- Prepare assignments for students, review and provide feedback and/or grades.
- Provide timely and targeted conversations with parents as needed to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of students and to foster strong parent/school partnerships.
- Communicate clearly and work well with parents and colleagues.
- Assisting at car-pool (drop off and pick up of students), lunch and recess duty.
- Professional development as it relates to curriculum development, health and safety of students.
- All other duties as assigned by the division director.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
- Teaching experience using a student-centered approach to include blended learning strategies and individualized instruction.
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience in independent schools.
- Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme or have training in IB methodology.
- Experience with Units of Study in Reading and Writing (Teachers’ College Reading and Writing Project), EveryDay Math, Responsive Classroom.
- Have experience in and a commitment to differentiated learning and a strong pedagogical approach to supporting diverse learners.
- A commitment to a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy to engage and honor all learners and embrace diverse perspectives.
