What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehabilitation Scheduler position at Ashley Regional Medical Center?
The Rehabilitation Scheduler performs a range of clerical duties related to the support of operations of the unit including scheduling, registering, authorizing and communicating about patients with providers; updating and organizing information in the department and responding to inquiries and requests from patients, visitors and providers.
- Answers the telephone in a professional manner, makes appointments and directs calls or takes messages.
- Performs all clerical and computer functions to support patient care delivery. Coordinates daily patient flow activities. Stocks department with office and maintain inventory
- Distributes and explains forms, documents and educational handouts to patient and family member. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
- Schedules patient appointments for rehabilitation services. Facilitates communications among providers, patients and visitors to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
- Registers patients to ensure that all necessary demographic, billing and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
- Handles information requests, including reviewing files and records, answering inquiries, copying, faxing, and responding to incoming work requests.
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains preauthorization for rehabilitation services. Works with insurance companies, billing personnel, providers and patients regarding insurance coverage. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles or refers to financial counselor for follow up.
- Communicates with physician offices and other appropriate personnel regarding the patient to exchange necessary information and determine services needed.
