The firm is currently comprised of a leadership team of 13 and 31 consultants/contractors. Ashley|Rountree continues to grow and diversify its offerings to the nonprofit community locally, regionally, and nationally. The company has five divisions each with its own Vice President and Associate VP and many consultants who have direct nonprofit expertise: Capital Campaigns, Fundraising Solutions/Grants, Strategic Planning/Partnerships and Collaborations, Talent & Leadership, and Marketing & Communications. There is also a Senior Consultant for the Lexington and Central Kentucky Market. We are currently seeking a full-time Vice President of Talent & Leadership who will provide vision and dynamic leadership to carry out the mission of the division and lead the team.
THE OPPORTUNITY
For more than two decades, Ashley|Rountree has built its business around fund development and campaign planning, both areas that are foundational to our burgeoning business. In recent years, Ashley|Rountree expanded into other areas of nonprofit management expertise. One of the fastest growing divisions is that of Talent & Leadership.
The VP will lead all consulting projects that assist clients with their needs in search, recruitment, interviewing, succession planning, interim staffing and executive and leadership coaching. The VP is responsible for recruiting, managing, and mentoring part-time / contractor consultants and must maintain the appropriate balance between client need and contractors available. Reporting to the COO, the VP works with the President and COO to build and achieve an annual division budget, goals and outcomes, writes proposals, and closes contracts with potential clients. The successful candidate will be one who is entrepreneurial, sales-minded oriented.
Ashley|Rountree has a culture of collaboration and coordination. There may be occasions in which the VP for Talent and Leadership will work with other divisions to deliver proposals or consult on cross-divisional projects.
Division of time between management and consulting is currently estimated at 65/35. As the division grows, management time could increase over consulting time. This full-time position is for forty (40) hours per week.
The Vice President must take initiative and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will lead the division team by assisting with sales lead calls, writing sales lead proposals, closing new business, assigning consultants to projects, overseeing quality control of client work, and communicating with the division team on a regular basis. Ashley|Rountree is committed to sourcing candidates through an equitable lens.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In conjunction with President, COO, and/or other division VPs and solo at times, engage in the sales cycle with potential clients on possible projects and assess needs of potential clients. This includes relating knowledge of the nonprofit sector and asking pertinent questions of the client, then translating that information to a proposal.
- Write client proposals and work with Ashley|Rountree team to get quality and winning proposals submitted on a timely basis.
- Serve as a Senior Consultant on various client projects which includes conducting and facilitating client business as highlighted in proposals: write job descriptions, post the job, maintain information in Recruit Pro, recruit potential candidates, interview candidates before passing to client, research background of candidates, participate in client interviews, if requested, provide questions for interviews, facilitate discussions, and bring the search to a successful conclusion all while maintaining excellent client communication.
- Supervise the Associate VP of Talent & Leadership.
- Daily management of a growing team of contractors, including written and verbal communication with the team and using Microsoft Teams to document all conversations and work product.
- Utilization of sales software, (HubSpot), to document sales calls and submitted proposals and use of Microsoft Teams to communicate with the leadership team.
- Utilization of Recruit Pro to help source and identify quality candidates for the client.
- Maintain general knowledge of PXT Select Assessment and oversee contractor who performs assessments.
- Maintain positive relationships with contractors and/or partners who performs executive coaching duties. Identify additional coaching staff, when needed.
- Maintain knowledge of contractors' skills and abilities to assign contractors for client interim staffing.
- Ongoing networking and recruitment of potential contractors to meet the demands of the work.
- Maintain excellent client relations with former and current clients.
- Maintain excellent community relationships locally and regionally.
- Evaluate contractor effectiveness as a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Minimum five years of experience in senior management in the nonprofit sector
- Strong understanding of the culture of nonprofit organizations
- Background in search, recruiting and human resources and prior use of a recruitment candidate database.
- Network of nonprofit professionals in the community and throughout the state
